Where to vote
During advance voting you can vote at any advance voting place in B.C., but not every place is open every day. On final voting day you have an assigned voting place, shown on your Where to Vote card. You can also vote at any district electoral office while it is open, until 4pm on October 24. Find a voting place ↗
To vote by mail, request a package at elections.bc.ca/votebymail or by calling 1-800-661-8683. Elections BC must receive it by 8pm on October 24.
Who can vote
You can vote if you are:
- a Canadian citizen
- 18 or older on October 24, 2026
- a resident of B.C. since April 23, 2026
What to bring
You can register when you vote. Bring one government photo ID that shows your name and address (such as a B.C. driver’s licence, B.C. Identification Card or B.C. Services Card with photo), or two documents that both show your name, at least one with your current address (such as a utility bill, bank statement or student card; electronic copies are accepted). If you have no ID, another voter registered in your electoral district, or a close relative, can vouch for you. Full list of accepted ID ↗
What is on the ballot
You vote for one candidate to be the MLA for your electoral district. There are 93 districts. The party that wins a majority of seats (47) usually forms government, and its leader becomes premier. You are voting for a local candidate, not directly for a party leader, so check who is running where you live.
Before you go
See where the parties stand on each issue, read each party’s positions, or take the questionnaire to compare your views with theirs. Elections BC lists every candidate in your district, including those from parties this compass does not compare.
